Tonight the Cleveland Cavaliers will suit up without Kyrie Irving. He is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks with a messed up bicep. I say that it’s a messed up biceps, because the Cavaliers have a CIA type approach to releasing injury statuses. The only thing the Cavaliers have said is that he will be reevaluated in two weeks. That means there’s a good chance he won’t play until the middle of next season. This also mean that means Dion Waiters will finally have his chance.
Dion Waiters and Kyrie Irving have been playing well together. If I didn’t know any better, I would think they like each other. It finally looks like they could actually play together for years to come. With that being said, Dion Waiters still thinks he’s the best players on the team. And while I’m sure he is sorry for the injury to Kyrie; he also sees this as an opportunity to prove how good he is. For the first time in his young career Waiters will be relied on as the go-to guy.
This is a win, win scenario for the Cleveland Cavaliers. If Dion plays well they know they have a player that they can pair with Kyrie Irving. On the other hand if things go wrong. Waiters will build up his numbers to the point where he can be traded at his highest value this offseason.
“So Dion, your audition starts tonight.”
