Kortney’s Last Show, EP 34: Opening for Dave Chappelle & Hannibal Buress

Hannibal

So there was nothing to talk about on the podcast, so I decided to talk about myself.

The only alternative was to talk about Bill Cosby, and I’ve had enough of that. No one is moving the story forward, yet it’s not dying. This Bill Cosby story reminds me of Lady Gaga’s music career. Enough with both of them.

So I decided to talk about the last few month of my career. With special attention paid to opening for Dave Chappelle and Hannibal Buress. A lot of people have asked me a lot of questions about the experiences. So I thought I would do a podcast about it.

Did you see Dumb and Dumber To? Because I didn’t

Dumb and Dumber (Screengrab)

This morning before I left to work out. I did what I typically do. I kissed my wife and wished her a good day. Then I look at pet cat admonishingly and told him to watch the house. As I walk I walks out the door. I looked at her pet cat admonishingly, told him to watch the house while saying, “Now don’t you go dying on me now.” As I jogged to the gym I began to laugh, and think about my mother. That’s one of her favorite lines from the movie Dumb & Dumber. Then it hit me, “Didn’t they come out with a sequel?”

They said people were clamoring for a dumber and dumber sequel. Personally I’ve never met any of those people, and I spend most of my time in a comedy club. I think the only people that wanted another sequel, were the producers who tried to make a sequel in 2003 without the original cast.… Read More

Kortney’s Last Show, EP 33: Busta Rhymes Falls Off Stage

Wow! It was sad to see, but it is true. Busta Rhymes fell off stage.

So its official Busta Rhymes is too old to be hip-hopping. I feel old saying that, because I grew up listening to his music. However, it comes a time for everyone to put the hip-hop down and Busta Rhymes time has come. Perhaps he can take up another profession, or do concerts while sitting in a chair. Maybe we could do one of the Coachella Busta Rhymes holograms, or have him only perform on a flat surface. I’m not sure what the solution is, but he’s too old to be hip-hopping.

I talk more about Busta Rhymes, and who is too old to be hip-hopping on this episode of The Last Show Podcast. I also talk about the College Football playoffs, and if the committee was a success.

Seattle New Years Comedy Show, Saturday Jan. 3rd (Stand-Up Style)

StandUpStylePosterJan3

Saturday January 3rd at 8 PM (Stand-Up Style) debuts at Easy Monkey Taphouse in Seattle for a New Year’s celebration. Get your tickets now: (Stand-Up Style) Brown Paper Tickets (You can click that link for tickets. That’s why it’s lighting up blue)

What’s (Stand-Up Style)?

Stand-Up [stand-uhp]: delivering a comic monologue while alone on the stage.

Style [stahyl]: attitudes that individuals within a culture express through their choice of cultural forms…it determines the manner in which they perform.

(Stand-Up Style) [stand-uhp] [stahyl]: Is a monthly live comedy show produced by Kortney Shane Williams. This is not the normal comedy show that is full of hack comics. This show features some of the best national touring headliners. It’s guaranteed to be a great night of comedy, and not one that turns your one night out, into a 3 hour marathon of unfunny; which ends up being more depressing than entertaining.… Read More

Kortney’s Last Show, EP 32: FERGUSON, AMERICAN TRAGEDY

fergusonprotest-620x400

In this episode of The Last Show I talk about the American Tragedy that was the Grand Jury’s decision to not indict Darren Wilson for killing Michael Brown.

I’m not trying to be political or gain some sort of popularity off the back of a tragedy. I just thought it was important to use the platform that I have to try to make some sort of difference. Justice was not done yesterday. And as Dr. Martin Luther Jr. said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” So Ferguson is not just some small town outside of St. Louis. Ferguson is America. Ferguson is every city in America.

I also digress and talk about The Ohio State Buckeyes, and why they should be in the college football playoffs.

Kortney’s Last Show, EP 31: Bill Cosby Assault Allegations and The 206

come-on-people-bill-cosby

Come on Bill Cosby. Come on man. You can’t be the dude out here trying to tell everybody how to act, and then not address rape allegations. You need to come out and say something. With the same intensity that you castigate other people on parenting and how black people need to be doing better.

The longer you say nothing the more it looks like you’ve perpetrated a fraud. You’ve created a lucrative empire on being the moral authority, and America’s dad. Well if you want anyone to believe you. Address the people that have accused you of rape.

I have more to say on the Bill Cosby topic on my podcast. Also on the podcast I talk about my appearance on The 206. I was on the show this past week. If you didn’t catch live. You should be able to find it online sometime in the near future.

Bernard Hopkins shows his age (Therapeutic socks)

I knew Bernard Hopkins was going to lose to Sergey Kovalev as soon as he walked in the ring. Because Bernard was wearing therapeutic socks. Bernard Hopkins is known for being a boxer that doesn’t seem to age. To think that at the age of 49, a guy had the ability to unify the Light…
