Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers have the showcase game this Sunday against the Miami Heat. This game will say a lot about who the Lakers are. If they have a great showing, people will be back on their jock like a college girl on ecstasy. On the other hand if they come up small critics will be looking for someone or something to blame. However, the game is a subplot to the big story his weekend.
This Sunday is overshadowed by Dwyane Wade taking out Kobe Bryant in last week’s All-Star game “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan style. I still don’t know what the hell he was thinking. It was an exhibition game. I know D-Wade isn’t one of the cleaner players. As a matter of fact I think he toes the line consistently. I know a lot of people will try to argue with me but there wrong. Look back to last year’s playoffs when he went “Hacksaw” on Rajon Rondo. Personally I have no problem with Wade’s style of play. I actually like it. I think he has a good mean streak that he keeps in check, save for exhibition games that don’t matter.
So will there be blood? I’m not sure, but I’m definitely rooting for it.
I think Kobe took Wade’s hard foul personally, but I don’t expect him to retaliate. However, I hope his teammates do.
All the players in the Lakers locker room know how pissed Kobe is. Now it’s up to them to settle it on the court. I hope they come out ready bust some heads (how old do you have to be to use the expression “bust some heads”). I don’t even want Metta World Peace to show up in a uniform. I want him to come out dressed as a UFC fighter. It can’t make him any worse than he’s been all year. Maybe Derek Fisher could show up with a megaphone like Jimmy Hart? Let’s install turnbuckles in the Staples Center and let Andrew Bynum go “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan on D-Wade. How it gets done doesn’t matter to me. I just want there to be blood.
